Kobe Candle

From Paris based Astier de Villatte, the hand poured candle is free of paraffin, and other petrochemical byproducts and contains a mixture of soy oil, secret plant ingredients and a smidgeon of bees wax, in a hand made glass vessel. Sun is setting on the Rokko Mountains. In the old neighborhood of Kitano, you stroll among curious European houses built by former nostalgic foreign residents. From the streets overlooking Osaka Bay rises a warm, spicy scent of crystallized ginger, a cool, tingly fragrance of coriander root and the unctuosity of sweet.

Benoît Astier de Villatte and Ivan Pericoli founded their company in 1996, together with members of the Astier de Villatte family and friends from the École des Beaux-Arts. They draw their inspiration from the history of decorative arts, popular arts and neglected objects.
